✤ No Pornography or Sexually Explicit Images on the Public Forums ✤
Pornography needn't be explained, lest the reader is too young to be on this site.However, one might wonder what constitutes as 'sexually explicit'.
Sexually explicit images are any images containing the following:
A visible vagina, penis/testicles or anus.
A clear outline of a vagina or penis/testicles.
A doll-like groin, which has no details, is fine assuming it follows the other rules.
Any depiction of masturbation, even if it's hidden under clothing or fabric.
Any image that contains sexual bodily fluid (any sort of ejaculate--male or female).
This includes 'implied' ejaculate (milk, whip cream, etc).
This rule applies to Avatars and signatures as well.
Within Private messages and the Adult Forum, you may post both Pornography and Sexually Explicit images as long as they abide by all content rules.
✤ Artistic Nudity is Allowed ✤
Artistic Nudity is allowed for artistic purposes within threads (not avatars/signatures), but must be tasteful and may only contain, at most, a bare buttocks or breasts.The groin area must still comply with the rules above.
Artistic nudity is not meant to be overly-sexual in nature.
Example of Artistic Nudity:
A woman lying next to a stream, sunbathing while covered in wet silks with her breasts exposed. She is not touching herself inappropriately nor gazing longingly at the viewer. It is not meant to be a sexual image but an artistic one.
Example of Non-Artistic Nudity:
A woman on her knees in a thong who is groping her bare breasts while her tongue hangs out of an open mouth.
To Clarify, we do allow kink-themed art and imagery on threads and as avatars as long as it's not overly sexual or explicit and no nudity.
A girl wrapped in bondage gear is fine, but a girl wrapped in bondage gear with breasts/vagina displayed is not.
If you’re not sure if your image is artistic nudity or explicit, contact an admin or moderator.
✤ No Posting Images Depicting Extreme or Explicit Violence ✤
Images that depict scenes of cruelty, extreme acts of violence or gore should not be posted on the public forums.Depiction of wounds and blood are allowed within limitation.
Within a roleplay forum, if you'd like to use images depicting something that could trigger another user (gun violence, images depicting abuse, etc), consider posting them under a spoiler tag with a warning.
✤ No posting images over 750pixels tall or wide on the Public Forums ✤
This is not a strict rule and admins/moderators won't knit-pick an image that is slightly above the maximum size requirements. However, if they feel it's too big, they may adjust it for you.Keep in mind, when you post an image on Writing Home, you can click it afterwards and a box will appear around it, allowing you to resize it.
The only exceptions to the size rule are decorative banners for search threads or group roleplays. However, it's better to have it break the rule in one direction only to avoid lag for other users. Any images that stretch pages or causes lagging should be resized.
✤ Do not cause lag/slowdown for other users by overloading pages with images ✤
As mentioned above, we want to avoid lag for other users.Remember that the more images you post on a page (especially if they are gifs), the higher the chance it will slow down or even freeze for other users who may not be using a high-end desktop (and sometimes even for those who are).
If you want to share images, be them character images or random images in the Chatter Cafe, please remember to keep them in the size requirements or smaller and limit them to 1 to 2 pictures per post to minimize load time. You can also put them under spoiler tags to reduce lag.
Threads that do not follow this rule are at risk of being closed until the problem is resolved.
