This is a forum where artists can show off artwork they have created.
This includes sketches, digital work, sculptures, photography, etc.

Artists CAN offer their services here to other members for monetary value.
However, please see rules pertaining to such below.

The Important Rules🖊

First and foremost, no pornography or extremely graphic depictions may be posted in this forum.
However, adult content may be posted in the Red Light District where you can open an album that is adult in nature.

Any Artwork posted in this forum must be created by the user posting it.
This is not a forum where you share images you found.
However, if you are wanting to show a collection of art made for you by other artists, that is allowed as long as you let it be known and give credit where credit is due to all artists for each image posted.

When posting art, we will still enforce our 750px (longest direction) rule because it can otherwise cause scaling issues and lagging.
If your image is nearing or over 1,000pxs, you need to scale it down.
To easily scale down an image, click it and drag it from the corner.

If you are posting art that you only partially created or designed, such as you color line-art you found online, make sure to credit the artist with a direct link to the image or by name if a link cannot be provided. You must also make it very clear what part of the work you created yourself.

When Viewing Artwork🖊

Do not steal any artwork for any reason, at any time, period.
You may request that a user allow you to use their image for a character profile, but the creator gets the final decision.
The creator can also rescind that decision at any time.
If caught stealing/altering/using any artwork of a user without permission, you will face an immediate 3-day ban.

Do not criticize (unless asked) or insult any artwork.
If an artist is asking for your opinion, you are free to give it within reason as long as it is considered thoughtful and kind.
Remember, there is a difference between "This sucks" and "I think the hair feels a little lifeless."

Unless directly stated in the artist's thread that you can post on said thread, do not post.
Posting on a thread without permission will be considered spam.
If this happens, thread owners can report the post to an admin and it will be removed.
To the Art Sellers🖊

Make sure to post commission threads in our Art Commission forum connected to this one.

Although we allow you to put commissions up, remember that we are a roleplaying site first and foremost.
If you're ONLY here to sell art, we will shut down your shop as that is something better suited for sites live Fiverr.

Bumping is still considered spam.
On that same note, if you post constantly (even if it's artwork) only to stay on the front page on the site, it will be considered a spam post.
It will show to us that your only reason for being here is to make money and not actually become part of the community.

When selling artwork, you may post your prices on your thread as well as the means in which you will be paid (Paypal, etc).
However, you may not discuss any part of the sale on the forum.
All discussions must be via PMs or off-site.
Writing Home will not be part of the sale in any form.

Writing Home will only step in if scamming is reported and both users must prove their innocence for actions to be taken.

However, Writing Home will take sides of buyer vs seller depending on the problem, some of which will be mentioned in the next section.

Sellers are required to read the section below as well due to the above mentioned section.
To the Art Buyers🖊

We highly suggest being very careful when purchasing art.

When purchasing, consider following these steps to avoid being disappointed or scammed:

1 ) Never pay all costs upfront.

Now, while sellers can request this, we do not suggest buyers comply because unlike sites like Fiverr, we have no safety protocol to get your money back to you if you get scammed.
Too many times has artists become backlogged and users spend money to wait for months (if not years) to never receive their art or a refund.
The best way to ensure you're both getting what you paid for, and that it gets made, is to ask for a watermarked version (or partial completion with a watermark) before paying.
For sellers who worry about watermarks being removed, there are many styles of watermarks that still show the piece well enough without being able to be removed that the buyer will feel comfortable that they are getting what they are paying for.

2 ) Ask how long it will take.

Every artist draws at their own speed, but that doesn't mean all buyers want to wait around. It's important to discuss with the artist what the general (not specific) time frame will be to the completion of the request.

If a seller does not deliver after two-weeks passed the date of delivery (with buyer having proof of said delivery date having been discussed), the seller has the right to opt out of the sale no matter how far along the art is. The seller must return the money. Refusal to return the money will lead to an immediate ban. This is another reason we do not suggest paying upfront. If a user gets banned for any reason, you lose your money.

At the same time, be patient. If the artist is communicating and letting you know that something has happened in their life that is stalling, be considerate. Ask how long it will take. You still have the right to cancel the artwork. However, if they can give a realistic time frame, just be patient.

3 ) Consider how you pay them to protect yourself.

Different cash apps and sites will offer more protection than others in case of failure to deliver. For instance, Paypal, if you pay them as a buyer/seller transaction, you can report the lack of delivery in an attempt to get your money back.

If a buyer claims this, however, and the artist can prove they have the art (you can literally just screen shot everything for paypal and send the art as well), Writing Home is here to help as much as possible if we can verify the proof of delivery on the seller's behalf. We will also help the buyer if the seller cannot prove they delivered the art (basically, if you cannot give the art to the admin/moderator, it will be assumed you never completed said artwork.).

4 ) Be clear on what you want.

Artists, especially with written details, cannot see the image you have in your mind.
This means, if you are getting your first piece, you must give them leeway to make errors.
All art and character designs start somewhere and build over time. The first is rarely ever perfect.
The easiest art is the art the seller can already see and not a description with an image only seen in the buyer's mind.

Remember, this forum is purely for showing off your artwork (or advertising your artwork).

If looking to create a character profile, go to the
Profile Building forum.
If looking to find or share images you did not create, go to to the Image Sharing forum.
If you're looking to edit or need artwork edited, go to the Image Editing sub-forum.
