Hello, Lovelies of Writing Home!
After spotting this in a few threads, the Monkey Circus (yes, that is the title of a group who helps with the site) has discussed and decided to make a small rule regarding 'Taboo Topics/Pairings' listed in search threads.
Moving forward, we ask that ALL users who have an undefined 'taboo topics/pairing' in their thread spend a few minutes to define them.
So, if you are talking about pairings, kinks, or otherwise, if you write something along the lines of "I enjoy taboo topics/pairings" you must then go on to list them.
Example:
"I enjoy Taboo Topics/Pairings...
Teacher x Students, Married man x Mistress," Etc. Etc.
Note: You can't put 'etc' as a filler. You have to list in full.
Why is this rule being implemented?
As many people know, we have, unlike many Roleplaying sites, chosen to ban incest because it, like pedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia, is against the law in the USA (where Writing Home is hosted from).
For this reason, it had to be lumped in despite it being a known kink for many roleplayers.
As we state in the main rules, here at Writing Home, we're family, but not that kind.
Taboo topics/pairings often have a strong hint or lean toward incestuous pairings on most sites. This means people could use this to skirt around the rules and wait for someone to ask in PMs what 'taboo pairings they like' to get a feel for if they both want to do something that isn't allowed.
While we'd like to believe our users would never do such a thing, the reality is that, sooner or later, it WILL happen.
To protect our users and keep with our own rules, this rule is being implemented as of tonight. However, we will give everyone with an active search threads a few days to make any required changes. If we spot changes that have not been made, you will receive a friendly reminder via PM from an admin or moderator. You will NOT be in any trouble. It is ONLY a reminder/notice of a required change.
To ensure all users see this thread, we will also be putting out an alert to all users (so no one misses it on the front page).
We thank you all for your patience and understanding as Writing Home continues to grow and figure out what's best for its community.
