Asai would sit down next to him. "What's gonna happen to the people that were there." She asked, speaking about the dead he had found back at the ambushed cart.
“They will be buried and sent off to see their ancestors. Hana…” he said as he ran his hand through her hair. “My daughter you will become my heir…and when I grow old lead our people…”
He smiled. "Do you prefer Asai? You have a chance to pick your own name here...What would you like to be called?" He asked her as he turned looking out at the beautiful garden before them. "I want you to be the happiest person in the world...but also understand your duties.."
The little girl stared at him like he was crazy for a few seconds. "I like Hana." She said, clinging to his arm. "Can I have something to eat?" She asked him, looking up at him like a daughter would.
Yash chuckled and smiled nodding. "Of course..." He said as he got up and picked her up placing onto his shoulder as they walked into the kitchen. A fresh smell of warm food wafted over as he sat her down. "Now...What would you like? Miso soup? Onigiri? Rice? Fish?" HE asked smiling as he waited for her order
The girl drooled a little hungrily. "Rice and cooked fish maybe?" she asked him, pleading eyes glancing his way the whole time. He heard her belly growl. She was half-starved.
He laughed a bit as she would see him begin to prepare rice and fish. He cooked himself as he looked at her. "Well my daughter...I shall cook for you all the time.." He chuckled as he began and saw her drool a little as he kneeled down as the rice boiled. "Here.." He said as he pulled out a rice cake. "Nibble on this while I finish making dinner." He said smiling
He looked at the doorway and paused. "Who? I see nothing there.." He said as he turned to check on the fish as he then wondered if she was overtired or something
"There's a man standing there. With a red sword." Hana said, taking another bite of the riceball, and then her eyes widened. "He's gone." she announced.
Yash smirked and shrugged. "Sounds like my great grandfather...A master swordsman who with one hand took down a giant.." He said as he finished cooking the fish and checked on the rice. Before long he had made her a small feast and presented it to her. "Now eat till you're full." He chuckled
She would eat hungrily, taking quick bites. One of those bites was too big and it puffed out her cheeks. She looked at him, her face reminded him of a squirrel with its face full of acorns.
Yash laughed seeing this and took his chopsticks poking one of her cheeks. "Slow child slow...Let the food dance with your tongue and get comfortable in your belly" He said smiling softly at her and leaned back as he ate more. "You will never know hunger again..." He said looking at her before eating some of his fish. "And you will become strong.."
The girl would stare at him and blushed a bit at his chopstick poking her. She ate it a little slower.
TIMESKIP SEVERAL DAYS LATER......
It would be rainy that morning, water dripping from the roof at Yash's home when a man on horseback arrived. "Lord Yash!" the man shouted on the horse's back.
